Meet Liz

Meet Liz

Liz was certainly influenced throughout her life by many people who helped her and her parents and a sure reason to why she has had the career she has with all the different elements always focusing on the needs of children and their families.

Liz experienced time in hospital as a child needing multiple operations and being separated from her parents, as was the way in those days.  Her parents also needed the help and support of social workers to help them become better parents, why because their own upbringings was challenging for them.

Liz has worked in the UK and the USA and now resides in the UK focusing on support services for children and families.  She has had a colourful career as a nanny, children’s nurse, foster carer of children with additional needs and a childrens independent social worker.

A word from Liz:  As a child/young person I was cherished in so many different ways by many different people and it shaped who I became and what I wanted to be able to give back with the children and families I work with.  Life can be hard sometimes and we all need to feel held and supported.

Liz is a qualified and registered social worker in the UK. She is also a certified Infant Massage Instructor (CIMI) with IAIM and a Certified Business Strategist for children and families businesses.

Liz is experienced in supporting all children such as premature babies, children with additional needs, complex medical conditions, fostering, surrogacy and adoption. Her aim is to support the precious relationships between children and their caregivers using all the key principles of international tried and tested methodologies.

Her experiences led her to want to pursue more ways of helping and supporting families so she retrained as a children’s social worker. Liz was privileged to be a manager a Sure Start Children’s Centre for over four years before redundancy and the loss of her mother changed her path/direction.

Liz set up her own business One to Cherish in April 2013 and continues to work as an Independent Social Worker and supporter of all parents. Throughout her career she has and continues to support all parents and their children to have brighter futures, better connections and relationships.

Liz’s mission is to help children have great relationships with their parents and she uses her unique ‘holding of the parents’ so they can focus on the children as a way of supporting them, helping them be the answer to their worries, being a guide and mentor and ultimately a supporter.
